A hidden gem waterfall, part of the AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park! A stunning native forest walk, gorgeous canopy, huge Kauri trees, board walks, a swing bridge and a hidden gem waterfall at the end of the track! This really is a hidden gem of the region!
Paranui Falls, also known as Pukenui Falls, is a hidden gem tucked away in A.H.Reed Memorial Park, Whangarei. Often overshadowed by its popular neighbor, Whangarei Falls, this 24-meter horsetail waterfall is worth a visit. The short 25-minute return walk from the small car park on Clapham Rd takes you through a forest and along a riverbed with slippery stones, so watch your step! Don't miss out on this picturesque spot that offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
From a reviewer:
'A beautiful native forest walk with amazing huge old kauri trees. It's really nice to see kauris so close to Whangarei!
The whole walk is shaded by trees so it's perfect on hot sunny days.
Plenty of beautiful nature to see here, and the tracks are well maintained. There are lots of bridges to cross over with rivers running underneath.
There is a very high canopy bridge to walk over too which is really amazing and fun.
A very easy walk for the whole family however if you want to see the waterfall, be prepared to walk up around 100 steps (unless you park at the other end close to the waterfall)
Plenty of space at the carpark with security cameras and a public toilet. Very safe.
Great spots for a picnic near the waterfall as well.
The tracks goes all the way to tiki falls if your feeling committed šš²š„¾'
