✈️ Rarotonga Scenic Flight with Air Rarotonga
There’s absolutely nothing like seeing Rarotonga from the sky! 🚁✨ We hopped on a 30-minute scenic flight with Air Rarotonga in a high-wing Cessna, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we took off, the views were breathtaking — lush green valleys, sprawling plantations, the glittering turquoise lagoon, and the dramatic drop where the reef plunges into the deep blue Pacific 🌊.
What made the experience even better was how relaxed and friendly our pilot was. He let us pretty much choose what we wanted to see — if we spotted something cool, he circled around a few times so we could soak it all in (and get the perfect photos 📸). When we asked for a full view of the island, he even flew right out over the ocean, giving us an unreal, wide-angle view of Rarotonga’s whole rugged beauty.
It was so cool flying over all the major resorts — a real standout was the old Sheraton Hotel 🏨 (ask a local about the wild stories behind it — it’s a bit of Cook Islands legend!). But honestly, it was the reef that stole the show — the incredible crevasses, the glowing deep blue channels, Muri Lagoon shimmering below, and the towering Needle in the heart of the island 🏝️.

The scenic flight lasts approximately 30 minutes, offering a comprehensive aerial tour of Rarotonga's stunning landscapes. Our flight experience felt more like an hour from start to finish.

For the best experience, choose a flight time early in the morning or late afternoon when the lighting enhances the island's vibrant colors. Also try to book as early into your trip as possible as the weather may affect your chance of flying.
This whole experience was absolutely EPIC and something we’ll never forget. 100% a MUST-DO if you're visiting Raro — you’ll see the island like never before! 🌺🌴 (Especially during whale season!)
