🌉 Arapuni's Historic Suspension Bridge
Hidden in the rolling green hills of the South Waikato, this 152-metre-long suspension bridge stretches high above the Waikato River — a must-visit if you're in the area and not too scared of heights!
Built in the 1920s, the Arapuni Suspension Bridge was originally constructed to help workers cross from Arapuni village to the hydroelectric power station site below. Today, it’s a unique and slightly thrilling walk with stunning views of the river, bush, and cliffs below.
👣 The bridge gently sways as you walk across, offering epic photo opportunities and a sense of history. On the far side, you’ll find walking and cycling tracks that connect to the Waikato River Trails.
🅿️ Parking is nearby and it’s a short walk from the road to the bridge — ideal for families, history buffs, and trail walkers alike.
