Just down Chelmsford Street in Tahawai, you’ll find a peaceful little spot that locals have loved for generations—Kauri Point Wharf. Sitting at the end of a quiet road, this long 200m wooden pier stretches out over Tauranga Harbour, offering epic views of Matakana Island and the Kaimai Ranges.

Kauri Point Wharf is a cool spot in Katikati with awesome pohutukawa trees, a sweet wooden jetty perfect for fishing, and some ancient pā sites to check out. There used to be a rope swing there but not sure if it is still there or not.

There is a lovely 80-minute coastal walk that starts at the lower carpark. It bypasses three big landslides but offers great views.

Tips:

• There are strong currents off the jetty, however it is super safe to swim at the beach!

• The jetty can get very busy with fishermen on the weekends, so week days can be a great time to visit if you dont want the crowds.
