Geysir, also known as The Great Geysir, is a famous geyser located in southwestern Iceland. It started forming around 1150 CE and can shoot boiling water up to 60 meters in the air during eruptions. Although its activity has been sporadic over the years, with periods of dormancy and revival due to earthquakes, it remains a popular tourist attraction along with the nearby Strokkur geyser. Geysir was officially protected in 2020 and has an interesting history of ownership by whiskey distillers and film directors. Overall, it's a cool spot to check out if you're ever in Iceland!
