Get ready for one of the most breathtaking drives in the country as you wind your way around the historic 33-mile Rim Drive, encircling the deepest lake in the United States. You'll find plenty of pull-offs and viewpoints designed to offer stunning, unobstructed panoramas of Crater Lake’s intensely blue water and the sheer caldera cliffs. The drive itself is a relaxing journey, but be sure to allow at least two to three hours to fully appreciate the grandeur, with stops for photos and to simply soak in the awe-inspiring scenery. Keep in mind this incredible experience is seasonal; heavy snowfall means the full loop is typically only accessible from July through October.

While driving the rim in winter isn't possible, the large amount of snowfall at Crater Lake makes the perfect snowshoeing destination. Truly a magical way to experience the park, snowshoes can be obtained in the Rim Village. Park Rangers offer a guided snowshoe tour or people can explore on their own.

For two weekends in September, Crater Lake hosts the Ride the Rim event where bicyclists can travel the entire perimeter of the lake with the east rim drive closed to vehicle traffic.
