⚡ Day 13: Akihabara’s Electronics and the Magic of teamLab

Today was the perfect contrast: a morning spent in the "old school" high-tech hub of Akihabara, followed by an afternoon in the most modern art experience in the world.

🎮 Akihabara: The Electric Town

Akihabara (or "Akiba") is the global capital of anime, manga, and electronics.

  • The "Otaku" Paradise: We spent hours lost in multi-story buildings filled with retro video games, rare figurines, and every electronic gadget imaginable.

  • The Arcade Thrill: We tried our hand at the "crane games" (UFO catchers). It’s addictive, especially when you see the high-quality prizes!

  • Mugiwara Store: Of course, we found another One Piece shop here to check for any final additions to our collection.

🌊 teamLab Planets TOKYO: A Sensory Journey

In the afternoon, we headed to Toyosu for an experience that is hard to describe with words—you have to feel it. teamLab Planets is an "immersion" museum where you are part of the art.

  • Walking Through Water: This is a "body-on" museum. You take off your shoes and socks and literally walk through warm, knee-deep water filled with digital koi fish that turn into flowers when they touch you.

  • The Infinite Crystal Universe: We wandered through a forest of hanging LED lights that felt like being inside a giant diamond.

  • The Floating Flower Garden: Thousands of real orchids hang from the ceiling and move up and down as you walk through them. It’s breathtakingly beautiful.

  • 💡 Pro-Tip: Because you walk through water, wear pants that are easy to roll up! They provide towels at the end of the water sections, so don't worry about staying wet.

💡 Traveler’s Note:

TeamLab Planets was one of the most unique things we’ve ever done. It doesn't feel like a museum. If you are going to Tokyo, book your tickets weeks in advance, as they sell out every single day!
