The Donner Lake docks are no secret to locals and tourist alike and with good reason. There are 37 free public docks along the north shore of Donner Lake. This is one of the best places to cool off in the summer here in Truckee, but the docks are VERY popular in peak summer and parking is very limited along the road. So early go early or go on a weekday.

For me the docks in winter, especially after a fresh blanket of snow, offer peace and quiet and make for some great photographic opportunities.
