One of my favorites. This is an amazing hike or bike in the Fall. The Snow Valley Peak Trail is a scenic hiking route located in the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. This trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests, making it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. As hikers make their way up, they can enjoy a mix of challenging terrain and more relaxed stretches, perfect for soaking in the natural beauty. The trail is well-marked, which helps keep adventurers on track as they navigate through the picturesque landscape. Wildlife sightings are common, adding an extra layer of excitement to the journey. Overall, it's a great spot for anyone looking to escape into nature and experience the breathtaking scenery that the region has to offer.
Trailhead. Start at Spooner Lake ($10 parking fee)and head towards Marlette Lake. Short before reaching Marlette Lake, the trail sign on the right directs you to the straight up one mile hike to Snow Valley Peak. At the top is one of the best views of Lake Tahoe looking over Marlette Lake in the foreground.
LOCAL TIP: There is a dirt road and a hiking trail that both lead you to Marlettle Lake. I recommend hiking or biking up the road since that is where all the Aspens are and it is much more scenic than the trail in my opinion. Also before you go, check to make sure the trail is open since the park has been doing some construction on the Marlette Lake dam.
