I've been fly fishing the Truckee River and surrounding area since I moved to Truckee almost 30 years ago. I can tell you first hand that the Truckee river is a world class trout river know to be the home of very large Rainbow and Brown trout ( just look at that first photo of me).But they do not come easy. With some good local knowledge from our local fly shop (Trout Creek Outfitters), or better yet, hire a local guide and you may well catch a the fish of a lifetime. I'm also good friends with 2 excellent long time local guides. Matt Heron Fly Fishing and Gilliagan's Guide Service are my recommendations if you are looking for a guide.
