soon after the Danish government reestablished free trade after two centuries of monopoly, foreign fishermen came back to Iceland. The French were very numerous, and their government financed the construction of hospitals around Iceland for them. The village of Fáskrúðsfjörður still has bilingual street signs in French/Icelandic and this museum makes you experience the life of those brave sailors, including that on board their ships, with an impressive reconstruction.
