The beautiful and steep peak of Eystra-Horn (Eastern horn) kind of steals the scene, but the peninsula of Hvalnes, where the lighthouse is, was the site of the first landing if moorish pirates coming from Algeria in the early 17th century. They kidnapped hundreds of Icelanders and sold them throughout the Ottoman empire.
