Visiting Dettifoss from the west side is a mesmerising experience. The 800 meter walk down a trail along the riverbank reveals Dettifoss in all its greatness, one of Europe's most powerful waterfalls. As you get closer to the waterfall, you can feel the ground shaking under your feet due to the thunderous sound of the falls. At the upper lookout point, visitors can view the raging power of Dettifoss and appreciate its breathtaking beauty - even in spite of potential water sprays. Taking the lower pathway, you are able to get very close to the falls with some amazing viewpoints of the landscape optimising your photography experience. The path is 1km each way.
