Kirkjugólf, or 'the Church Floor', is a mysterious and beautiful natural monument located near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. It is an 80 meter expanse of hexagonal shaped columnar basalt stone slabs that slowly eroded over time - giving the illusion of man-made flooring. Nature enthusiasts and curious minds alike can spend a while exploring this mesmerizing landscape and playing with perspective to get creative photos! With no church or any other building on site and its protected ranking as a natural monument, Kirkjugólf is sure to please.
