Hallgrímskirkja Saurbæ, located in Hvalfjarðarsveit, Iceland, is a thoroughly unique church. Completed in 1957, the building was designed and constructed by Icelandic State Architect Guðjón Samúelsson and Architects Sigurður Guðmundsson and Eiríkur Einarsson, along with other artworks created by sculptor Gerður Helgadóttir and the frescoes of Finnish artist Lennart Segerstråle around the altar. The crucifix on the altar itself even dates back to the 16th century! Named after Icelandic Pastor Hallgrímur Pétursson, the most belived baroque author in Iceland, who served at the local parish from 1651-1669, visiting Hallgrímskirkja Saurbæ is an unforgettable experience that you won't forget!
