š° Palau de Maricel: The "Fake" Palace
Just across the street from the Cau Ferrat Museum is the Palau de Maricel, which looks like a centuries-old royal residence but was actually built in the 1910s by an American millionaire (Charles Deering) who just really, really loved art. He basically bought up a bunch of fishermen's houses, demolished them, and built this absolute stunner of a "palace" to house his collection.
It is arguably the most beautiful building in town. The Gold Room and Blue Room are opulent enough to make you feel underdressed, but the real showstopper is the cloister and the terraces. The tiled arches frame the Mediterranean sea so perfectly it looks like a painting.
My Tip: Check the schedule! Unlike the museum next door, you usually need to book a guided tour (often on Sundays) to get inside, or catch it during a special event. If you can't get in, just admire the bridge connecting it to the museumāitās one of the most photographed spots in Sitges for a reason.
