š¶āāļø La Rambla: The Beautiful Touristy Street
La Rambla is the most famous street in Barcelona. It stretches from PlaƧa de Catalunya down to the Christopher Columbus monument by the sea.
It is prettyāthe trees are leafy, the architecture is grand, and thereās an undeniable energy. But you shouldn't spend more than an hour walking it.
The "Do Not Do This" List (Serious Advice):
Do NOT eat here: If a restaurant has pictures of the food on a laminated menu outside, or a guy standing out front begging you to come in, run. You will be served yellow rice from a microwave and charged ā¬25 for it.
Do NOT drink the giant sangrias: Those fishbowl-sized drinks are basically sugar, cheap red wine, and a guaranteed hangover that will ruin your entire trip.
Watch your pockets: This is the pickpocket Olympics. They donāt look like criminals; they look like nice tourists or friendly locals.
The Tactic: One person bumps into you or asks for directions, while the other gently lifts your wallet.
The Fix: Keep your bag zipped and in front of you. Don't put your phone in your back pocket. If someone spills something on you, keep walkingāit's a trap.
My Tip: Walk down the center promenade to say you did it. Look at the Miro Mosaic on the ground (most people walk right over it without noticing). Pop into La Boqueria market for a fresh juice, but go early (before 10 AM) to avoid the crush. Then, immediately turn off into the Gothic Quarter or El Raval.
