Cholla Cactus Garden, located in Joshua Tree National Park, is a surreal desert landscape filled with thousands of densely packed cholla cacti. It’s a mesmerizing spot, especially during the golden hours when the sunlight makes the cacti glow like they’re lit from within.

Photo tips: Visit at sunrise or sunset for the most magical lighting and fewer crowds. Bring a macro lens to capture the cactus spines up close.

Good to know: The garden is easy to access, with a short, flat loop trail.

Good to know: Be cautious while walking—those spines are sharp and can easily stick to clothing or skin.

Good to know: Entry to Joshua Tree National Park costs $35 per vehicle if you don’t have an annual National Park Pass.
