Tucked away at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites in northern Italy, Molveno is best known for Lake Molveno, a crystal-clear alpine lake that’s often called one of the most beautiful in Italy (and honestly, it lives up to the hype). The water is turquoise, the mountains are dramatic, and the air? Super fresh.

It’s the perfect spot for lakeside strolls, paddleboarding, or just lounging on the grassy beaches with a gelato in hand. There’s also a cute little town with cafés, bakeries, and family-run restaurants where you can get a proper Italian meal with a mountain view.

Visit the Church of San Vigilio ⛪️

A little cultural stop, this pretty church is tucked into the hillside and has that peaceful old-world charm. Great spot for a panoramic view over Molveno.

If you're into hiking, there are trails for every level, including ones that lead you deep into the Adamello Brenta Natural Park. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels a bit like a hidden gem compared to the more touristy spots.Whether you're after a relaxing lake holiday in the Dolomites or a base for outdoor adventures, Molveno is one of those places you’ll want to return to.

Trails 🥾

Lago di Molveno Loop Trail

Distance: ~10.5 km

Difficulty: Easy

Time: 2.5–3 hours

This scenic trail loops all the way around Lake Molveno, offering stunning lake and mountain views . It’s mostly flat and well-marked, perfect for a relaxed morning walk or a picnic hike. Great for families or anyone who wants fresh air without the climb.

Molveno – Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo

Distance: ~7 km one way (if you start from the top of the Pradel cable car)

Difficulty: Moderate

Time: 2.5–3 hours

Take the Molveno-Pradel cable car , then hike through forest and alpine meadows to reach the Croz dell’Altissimo mountain hut. The views of the Brenta Dolomites are incredible, and the rifugio is a great lunch stop. You’ll pass waterfalls, wooden bridges, and lots of photo spots.

Sentiero delle Grotte (Cave Trail)

Distance: ~6 km
Difficulty: Moderate
Time: 2–2.5 hours
This lesser-known trail offers something a bit different—forested paths, small caves, and panoramic views of Lake Molveno. It's a great mix of nature and quiet exploration.
