Larissa Station is Athens’ primary railway hub, serving Intercity (IC) and suburban (Proastiakos) trains to destinations across Greece, including Thessaloniki, Kalambaka (for Meteora), and Patras. Located near the city center and connected to the Athens Metro Line 2 (red line), it’s a practical gateway for travelers taking day trips or long‑distance journeys.

The station features ticket counters, self‑service kiosks, waiting areas, and small cafés for quick refreshments. While modest in size compared to other European rail hubs, it’s straightforward to navigate, with clear bilingual signage and staff on hand to assist. Arrive at least 20–30 minutes before departure, especially during peak travel seasons, to allow time for buying tickets, locating your platform, and boarding.
