Ménerbes

Directions

Ménerbes is one of the most striking hilltop villages in the Luberon, dramatically perched along a rocky ridge with sweeping views over vineyards, orchards, and the surrounding countryside.

Its position made it a natural fortress. During the Wars of Religion, Ménerbes became a Protestant stronghold and resisted siege for several years. Today, that turbulent past contrasts with a peaceful village of stone houses, quiet streets, and open landscapes.

As you walk through the village, you’ll notice how it stretches along the ridge, offering terrific viewpoints at almost every turn. The atmosphere is calmer than in some of the Luberon’s most famous villages, making it a rewarding stop if you want scenery without constant crowds.

Ménerbes is also surrounded by vineyards and local producers, adding to its appeal as a place to slow down and enjoy the rhythm of Provence.

👉 Local Tip: Don’t stop at the first viewpoint. Walk through the village to the far end where the crowds thin out. The views there are just as impressive and often completely quiet.
