Tête de Chien

If you want to see the French Riviera from above, this is one of the most striking viewpoints you’ll find. The scale of the landscape here makes Monaco look almost unreal.

Tête de Chien rises about 550 meters above sea level, directly above Monaco, offering a wide panoramic view across the Côte d’Azur. From the top, you can see Monaco in full, Cap-d’Ail below, the coastline stretching toward Nice and Antibes, and even Menton and the Italian border on clear days.

The site has a long strategic history, with Roman troops and later military installations, including Fort Masséna, which still sits at the summit. Today, the area is open and accessible, but remains raw and undeveloped.

Getting here is relatively easy by car via La Turbie, with a short walk from the parking area. Despite the easy access, this is not a casual viewpoint. The cliffs are steep, and there are no guardrails, so awareness is essential.

👉 Local Tip: Go early in the morning or just before sunset for the best light over Monaco. Avoid windy days, as the exposed edges can feel unstable and there’s no protection.
