The Temple of Aphaia is Aegina’s crown jewel and one of the best‑preserved ancient temples in Greece, dedicated to the goddess Aphaia. Built around 500 BCE, it forms part of the so‑called “Sacred Triangle” with the Parthenon in Athens and the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, making it an essential stop for history enthusiasts.

Perched on a pine‑clad hill on the island’s northeast side, the temple offers breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf and nearby islands. Its well‑preserved Doric columns and tranquil setting create a serene atmosphere, far removed from the crowds of Athens. Informative signage on site helps visitors understand its architectural and religious significance.

👉 Bring water and arrive early in the day for cooler temperatures and uninterrupted photos of the temple against the deep blue sea.
