The Église Notre-Dame d’Espérance, located in Le Suquet on Place de la Castre, is the most important historic church in Cannes. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it replaced an older chapel that had become too small for the growing population. Its long construction, often interrupted by wars and epidemics, reflects the challenges of life in early Cannes.

The church combines Gothic architecture with Renaissance elements, featuring a simple but powerful façade and a square Roman-style bell tower. Inside, you’ll find a single nave lined with chapels once maintained by local craft guilds, along with carved wood details, religious artworks, and a historic organ.

Step outside, and you’re rewarded with one of the best viewpoints in Cannes, overlooking the Vieux Port, the Croisette, and the Lérins Islands.
