Directions

Set just north of the Vieux Port, Les Arcenaulx is one of Marseille’s most distinctive dining spots, combining a restaurant, bookstore, and cultural space inside a former 17th-century publishing house.

Located in what used to be a warehouse district, now one of the city’s liveliest nightlife areas, it’s an ideal place to start or end an evening in Marseille. The setting alone makes it worth a visit, with shelves of books lining the walls and a warm, intimate atmosphere that feels very different from the typical waterfront restaurants.

The menu focuses on refined Provençal cuisine, with dishes such as rabbit and sardine and ginger pâté, alongside other seasonal specialties. It’s a place where locals go when they want something more atmospheric and less touristy, without sacrificing quality.

👉 Local Tip: Reserve ahead if you’re dining in the evening, especially on weekends. If you can’t get a table, stop by for a drink and explore the bookstore. It’s one of the most unique interiors in Marseille.
