The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is the iconic building at the heart of Cannes’ world-famous film festival. Located beside the Vieux Port at the western end of La Croisette, this modern convention centre hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious events in the international film industry.

The building is instantly recognizable thanks to its famous red-carpet staircase, where actors, directors, and celebrities walk the steps during the festival each May. Visitors can climb the 24 red-carpeted steps themselves and recreate the classic Cannes photo moment. The carpet is displayed throughout the year, making it one of the most popular photo spots in the city.

Just beside the palace is the Chemin des Étoiles, Cannes’ version of a walk of fame. Handprints of well-known actors and filmmakers are set into the pavement, allowing visitors to compare their hands with those of cinema legends.

Although the building is primarily a convention centre hosting festivals and conferences throughout the year, it has become one of the most recognizable landmarks on the French Riviera.
