A short walk leads to one of the most striking viewpoints in the Calanques, where cliffs, sea, and jagged peaks come together in a wide open panorama. It’s one of those places where the effort feels minimal compared to the reward.

The Belvédère de Sugiton, accessible from the Luminy campus in Marseille, offers a sweeping view over the Calanques National Park, including Sugiton, Morgiou, the Riou archipelago, and the surrounding limestone massifs. Perched at around 250 meters above sea level, it gives you a clear perspective of how wild and rugged this coastline really is.

The route starts near the Luminy bus terminus and follows a wide, mostly shaded path up to the col de Sugiton, before branching toward the viewpoint. Compared to the descent into the calanque itself, this option is quicker and far less demanding, making it ideal if you want the views without committing to a longer hike.

Keep in mind that the area is extremely popular in summer. Access to nearby calanques like Sugiton may require advance reservation, but the belvédère remains accessible and still delivers the iconic scenery.

👉 Local Tip: Bring plenty of water and go early in the morning. Even though the path is relatively short, the sun exposure and heat can make it feel much harder on the way back.
