The Îles de Lérins are a small group of islands located just off the coast of Cannes, reachable by a short 15-minute boat ride from the harbour. Despite their proximity to the busy Riviera resort, the islands offer a peaceful escape filled with forests, historic sites, and quiet Mediterranean coves.

The two main islands are Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat, separated by a narrow channel.

Île Saint-Honorat has been an important religious centre since the 4th century, when Honoratus, a Gallo-Roman monk, founded a monastery here. The island is still home to a community of monks who maintain vineyards and produce wine. Visitors can explore ancient chapels, the fortified monastery, and peaceful walking paths through the island’s vineyards and pine woods.

Together, the islands offer a fascinating combination of nature, history, and spiritual heritage, making them one of the most rewarding day trips from Cannes.
