Orange is one of the most important historic towns in Vaucluse, known for its exceptionally well-preserved Roman monuments and its role in European history.

The highlight is the Théâtre Antique d’Orange, one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world, still used today for concerts and festivals. Nearby stands the impressive Arc de Triomphe, built to celebrate Roman victories and mark the importance of the town along ancient trade routes.

Beyond its Roman heritage, Orange has a pleasant old town with shaded squares, fountains, and café terraces, especially around the 17th-century town hall. The Colline Saint-Eutrope offers one of the best viewpoints over the theatre, the town, and the Rhône valley.

Orange is also part of the Côtes-du-Rhône wine region, surrounded by vineyards and known for local products like olives, honey, and truffles.

While many visitors come for the Roman sites, the town works equally well as a quiet base to explore the wider region, including Avignon and the Rhône valley.
