Furarito, sometimes also called 5‑7 Alley, is a charming, old‑school laneway in downtown Asahikawa that feels like stepping into a slice of Showa‑era Japan. What was once a bustling fish and vegetable market has transformed into a cosy food and drink hub lined with about 18 small restaurants, izakayas, yakitori (grilled chicken) spots, ramen shops, and local bars, drawing both locals and visitors for casual meals and drinks. Wooden signs, hanging lanterns, and narrow paths give the place a nostalgic vibe, especially in the evenings when lights and laughter spill into the lane.
