One of the most authentic cultural experiences to do on your Kyoto visit is taking part in a traditional Japanese traditional tea ceremony. Step inside an ancient teahouse tucked away in the backstreets of Gion, dress in a traditional kimono, and learn the rituals of this centuries-old practice. I recommend booking a session with Maikoya Kyoto, it was an incredible experience, where you can enjoy a tea ceremony with a kimono dressing and a chance at the end to take your own photos in their lovely gardens. Alternatively, they offer a geisha experience or simply hire a kimono for the day. Traditional Tea Ceremony + Kimono dressing
