If you’re chasing one of Fukuoka’s most photogenic spots, look no further than Sakurai Futamigaura, often called the “Couple’s Rock.” This dreamy seaside shrine in Itoshima is famous for its two sacred rocks joined by a thick white Shinto rope, standing proudly out in the ocean with a bright torii gate framing the view. Come at sunset and you’ll see why it’s one of Kyushu’s most Instagrammed places — the sky glows pink and gold, and the reflection off the water is pure magic.
It’s completely free to visit. You can grab a coffee from one of the cute beachfront cafés nearby, kick off your shoes, and just watch the waves roll in. Romantic, peaceful, and absolutely stunning — Sakurai Futamigaura is one of those spots that feels straight out of a postcard. 🌅✨
If you would like to take the stress out of getting here, this spot can be visited as part of a bigger day tour, which also visits the Venice of Kyushu - Yanagawa, another must see spot in our suggested itinerary.
