Tucked right on the main road in Ersfjordbotn, right in front of a small wooden bridge, this waterfall becomes a stunning frozen spectacle in winter. Partially or fully iced over, framed by towering snow-covered mountains, it’s a peaceful and easily accessible spot to soak in the raw power and stillness of northern Norway.
In summer, it’s a popular starting point for hikes into the surrounding peaks, but in winter it’s all about standing still, admiring the icy textures, and capturing the magic of Arctic nature.
📸 Tip: Wear sturdy shoes—ice can make it slippery! Visit before sunset for the best light. A fantastic photography stop with the mountains as a backdrop.
🚗 & 🚌 Access: Easily reachable by car or bus. By bus from Tromsø, you can stop at the Ersfjordbotn bus stop (closest) or the school stop if planning to explore the village. On our first visit, the bus driver kindly recommended stopping at the Ersfjordbotn viewpoint before heading down to the village. On our second visit, we drove directly here.
