Folkeparken is one of Tromsø’s most beautiful and underrated spots, located on the southern edge of the island. This open-air museum and coastal park features red wooden cabins, an old pier, and stunning fjord and mountain views, perfect for a slow walk, sunset photos, or northern lights spotting.
In summer (June 22–August 24), the museum is open on Sundays 12:00–16:00, offering family-friendly activities like guided tours, exhibitions, coffee at the Old Storehouse, and games for children. The open-air grounds are always accessible, with new installations and surprises to discover.
History: The first buildings were placed in 1963, showcasing Northern Norway’s coastal culture, with structures from Tromsø, Balsfjord, Karlsøy, and Ibestad.
💡 Tip: Visit at sunset for the most magical light. Dress warmly and bring a tripod for aurora photos.
🧭 Nearby: Just down the road from Telegrafbukta Beach, ideal for combining both into one outing.
