One of Tromsø’s most recognizable landmarks, the Tromsø Bridge (Tromsøbrua) gracefully links the city center to Tromsdalen, home of the famous Arctic Cathedral. Its elegant curve across the fjord makes it more than just a route—it’s a viewpoint and experience in itself.
You can cross by foot (about 20 minutes), car, or bus. Walking gives full 360° views of the water, mountains, Arctic Cathedral, and city skyline, but in winter it can be windy and icy, so dress warmly and tread carefully.
💡 Tip: Photographers will love the angles both from the bridge and of it, especially at night when the Arctic Cathedral glows and reflects on the water.
🧭 Fun fact: Built in 1960, Tromsøbrua was Norway’s longest bridge at the time and remains one of the city’s most iconic symbols.
Bus Access: Take lines 20, 24, 26, or 28 from Skippergata bus stop to Bruhodet Øst, perfect if you don’t have a car. We recommend using the Svipper app for tickets and timetables.
