Located in the town of Cahir in County Tipperary, right off the M8 motorway between Dublin and Cork, making it a convenient stop on most Ireland road trips.

The castle sits on a rocky island in the River Suir and takes about 30-45 minutes to explore at a leisurely pace.

Hours vary by season, with the castle open daily from 9:30am to 5:30pm during spring and autumn, longer hours in summer, and reduced hours in winter. Last admission is normally 45 minutes before closing.

The town of Cahir itself is small but has a few cafes and pubs for a quick bite. It pairs perfectly with a visit to the Rock of Cashel, which is only about 15 minutes up the road.

The Swiss Cottage, a quirky 19th-century ornamental cottage, is also nearby and worth a quick detour if time allows.
