Salthill Promenade, located just west of Galway City, is one of Ireland’s most popular seaside walks and a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

Stretching nearly two miles along Galway Bay, the promenade offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Clare hills across the bay, and some of the best sunsets in the country. The area is lined with cafés, ice cream shops, and traditional pubs, making it a perfect place to relax after a stroll. A local tradition encourages walkers to “kick the wall” at the end of the promenade for good luck before turning back.

This experience is ideal for anyone who enjoys coastal scenery, photography, or a laid-back afternoon by the sea. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike will appreciate the friendly atmosphere and fresh ocean air.
