Overview

Park Hotel Kenmare is a 5-star Victorian landmark hotel dating from 1897, originally constructed as a railway hotel serving travellers in the southwest of Ireland. The hotel sits on 12 acres of tended gardens that lead down to the waters of Kenmare Bay, with splendid views over the bay and the ever-changing light of the Cork and Kerry Mountains.

It has been consistently recognised as one of Ireland's finest hotels and is known for a specific style of warm, old-fashioned Irish hospitality that blends historic atmosphere with contemporary luxury. The hotel is fully dedicated to resident guests and has no meeting or banqueting facilities, ensuring the young and professional staff remain focused on the experience of those staying overnight.

What You'll See

The hotel has 46 Victorian-style bedrooms, each individually designed and complemented by rich fabrics, original antiques, and interesting art pieces, most with a full water view or private veranda. Superior Rooms have small sitting areas suitable for shorter stays and solo guests on SÁMAS Solo programmes, while Deluxe Rooms overlook the water with spacious sitting areas.

SÁMAS, the hotel's Deluxe Destination Spa, includes a 25-metre lap pool, an outdoor heated vitality pool, separate male and female thermal suites with sauna, aroma steam rooms, ice fountain, and tropical rain showers, and an infinity pool with stunning views of Kenmare Bay secluded by trees.

The Landline Restaurant, set within the hotel's Sean Scully Room, looks out upon Kenmare Bay and the Caha Mountains with a seasonally driven menu. A 12-seat private cinema, the Reel Room, screens classic films nightly, and the cocktail bar holds one of Europe's largest whiskey collections alongside a Champagne Bar for special occasions.

Visitor Essentials

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from Kenmare town center. The hotel is a Fáilte Ireland-approved accommodation with Tourist Accommodation Quality Standard recognition. Hotel guests have complimentary access to SÁMAS facilities as part of room packages that include the spa experience, while day spa guests must be partaking in the SÁMAS Experience to access the thermal suite, lap pool, mini gym, and classes.

Activities on offer include tennis, croquet, falconry, walks, and cycling, along with golf on the adjacent 18-hole Kenmare Golf Club course. The hotel can arrange deep sea diving trips and other adventure activities through its concierge team.

Tips

Book a Deluxe Room with water views if possible - the orientation toward Kenmare Bay and the Caha Mountains is the single most defining feature of a stay here.

The SÁMAS Experience is a three-hour structured programme that includes the thermal suites, a body treatment or Bamford facial, and time in the Relaxation Room with hand-crafted ash daybeds - well worth building into your stay rather than treating spa access as an add-on.

The hotel's 2-minute walk to the center of Kenmare puts its restaurants, craft shops, and pubs on the doorstep - particularly useful for an evening out on the town without needing to drive. For longer stays, the Stay 3 Pay 2 and Stay 4 Pay 3 packages offer meaningful savings and allow enough time to use both the spa and the surrounding Ring of Kerry scenic drives at a sustainable pace.

The hotel's approach to service is notably personal - from doormen greeting your car to housekeeping leaving complimentary small touches on special occasions.
