Unlike the day before, we were up by 9am and out the door by 9:30, bathing suits stuffed into grocery bags, heading for the bus station.

Where were we going?

Well… Mia had told us we were going to some kind of spa.

So imagine our confusion when we got off the bus and found ourselves back at the AIRPORT.

Adam and Mia immediately started going on about how we were being deported? Absolute nonsense. Eventually me and Jacob got them to admit we were just switching bus lines.

The spa was still happening.

We just had to wait.

And wait.

And wait.

Now, I know I have absolutely no sense of time… but I swear it had to be at least 30 to 45 minutes. Long enough for Jacob to decide he loved wearing my sunglasses. Long enough for Adam to run into the airport to use the bathroom.

Long enough for him to not come back.

At a certain point me and Jacob started getting nervous. If the bus showed up without Adam, we'd be stuck waiting even longer. We were this close to sending a rescue party when we saw him running toward us.

And he wasn't empty handed.

He had pizza.

FOUR SLICES OF CHEESE PIZZA.

I don't think I've ever felt that kind of immediate joy. I wasn't even hungry… and I still devoured my slice like it was the best thing I'd ever tasted.

(We later found out he originally came out with only 3 slices… forgot one for himself… and had to run back in. Which honestly makes it even better.)

It was such a small, random moment. But something about it stuck.

No one had ever surprised me with food at an airport at 10am before.

And now? It's a tradition.

Airport pizza!

The small things have a way of becoming the things you carry. A slice of cheese pizza at a bus stop. A piece of string holding a guitar strap together. The best things in life happen unexpectedly. Kind of like the album I wrote on that kitchen floor.

So while you're waiting for your bus… go grab a slice. Sit down. Take a bite. Enjoy it for no reason at all, even if you had breakfast less than an hour ago.

And tag me on Instagram (@tzayla.official) so I can feel like I'm there with you <3

Oh! One more thing:

ALWAYS pay your bus fare.

Romanians do NOT play around with that.

(We'll talk about why I know this in the next entry.)
