Donna Camilla Savelli is a boutique hotel in Trastevere. It's unique in a former 17th-century monastery designed by renowned architect Francesco Borromini.
Yes, it's a splurge, but if you're an architecture fan, love history or want a tranquil but luxurious place to stay in the charming Trastevere, Donna Camilla Savelli is a must-stay place.
The rooms are elegant, and each one is unique. I loved its high-arched hallways and checkered marble floors. But its gorgeous garden was my favourite spot. It was a warm March night; the magnolia trees were already in bloom, and I enjoyed the hotel’s signature cocktail, La Rosa del Borromini, made with Rose petal liquor. It was a moment in Rome that I will never forget.
Trastevere is a foodie neighbourhood with some of the best restaurants in Rome, so Donna Camilla Savelli is an excellent base if you dream of nights out dining al fresco in cobblestone courtyards.
HOW TO GET TO THE HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT:
Take the Leonardo Express from the airport to Termini Station. There isn't a metro stop in Trastevere, so suggest taking a cab the final 4km to the hotel.
