Just when you think Koyasan can't get any more impressive, you walk into Danjo Garan and... wow. The massive temple complex feels like it's been frozen in time, and that ancient bell ringing at specific hours adds this incredible layer of atmosphere that gives you chills.

The interior of the buildings here - especially that Kondo (Golden Hall) - might just be the most impressive we saw in all of Japan. And then there's that incredible red Konpon Daito Pagoda dominating the skyline. What makes it special is how all these structures work together to create this perfect spiritual atmosphere.

The timing of that temple bell is something else - there's something really powerful about hearing the same sound that's been echoing through these mountains for centuries. It's like the complex knows exactly how to pace your visit, with the bell marking time just like it has for generations.
