Prepare to be humbled by the sheer power of Skógafoss, one of our most magnificent waterfalls. It's just a short, flat walk from the car park to the base, where you can get close enough to feel the spray on your face – don't forget your waterproofs! For a completely different perspective, take the staircase up the side of the cliff; it's a bit of a climb, but the view from the top, looking down as the Skógá River plunges into the canyon, is absolutely worth the effort.
Also note that the campsite used to be directly in front of the waterfall, but now sites back closer to the main road - but still very close (2 minute drive). This is where we camped on day 2.
