The Pinnacles Overlook is one of the most stunning and easily accessible viewpoints in Badlands National Park, located along the Badlands Loop Road (Highway 240). Offering panoramic vistas of rugged rock formations, sharply eroded buttes, and sprawling prairie, it’s a must-stop for photographers and nature lovers alike—especially at sunrise or sunset when the light casts dramatic shadows across the landscape. Visitors often spot bighorn sheep and prairie dogs in the area, and the overlook provides a sweeping perspective of the park’s unique geologic layers. With a short walk from the parking area to the viewing platform, the Pinnacles Overlook offers a breathtaking glimpse into the ancient forces that shaped this dramatic terrain.

• Come here around sunset time for some epic views. This is probably our favorite place to watch sunset in the park and the Badlands sunsets are some of the most underrated in the country!
