Old Faithful is a must-see attraction in Yellowstone National Park, known for its famous geyser eruptions that shoot water up to 180 feet high with surprising regularity. Visitors from around the globe gather to witness this natural spectacle and take in the surrounding beauty of the park's unique thermal features. The Old Faithful area also offers opportunities to explore the fascinating geology of the region, with over 150 geysers and numerous hot springs to discover along exciting boardwalk trails.

Pro Tips:

  • Old Faithful erupts about every 75-110 minutes. Park rangers actively make predictions and have a sign with the next expected eruption time. The eruption itself lasts between 1.5 and 5 minutes.

  • If you arrive right after the eruption, there are plenty of visitor shops and some restaurants within walking distance to help pass the time! There is also the famous Yellowstone Inn, which serves a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dinner option does require reservations.

  • Note that the boardwalk area continues to fill up as the eruption time gets closer, so if you want a front row seat, we'd recommend staying close by!
