Hosen-in is a serene temple in Kyoto, perfect for a peaceful escape from the city. It is famous for its moss garden and its 700-year-old pine tree, said to resemble the shape of Mount Fuji and considered the oldest tree in Kyoto. I highly recommend having matcha there and enjoying it in peace while soaking in the calm atmosphere. The garden is beautiful in every season, and it’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours just wandering and relaxing.

To get there from central Kyoto, take a bus from Ohara; the journey takes about one hour.
