You need to check out Iron Rose, tucked inside The Mills House Hotel, if you need a last minute brunch reservation. This spot is seriously underrated, serving up delicious food, friendly service, and a gorgeous courtyard—sometimes with live music! 🎶🌿 Whether you’re looking for a casual weekend brunch or a celebratory meal, Iron Rose delivers in both food and ambiance.

The Vibe

Iron Rose feels like a hidden garden escape in downtown Charleston. The lush courtyard is stunning, with twinkling lights and greenery creating the perfect brunch setting. Inside, the space is warm, cozy, and elegant—great for a more intimate experience.

What to Order

🍍 Fresh Fruit – Perfectly ripe pineapple, berries, and melon—a fresh, light way to start.
🍞 Brioche French Toast – Stuffed with whipped mascarpone, topped with caramelized banana, and drizzled with bourbon maple syrup. Sweet, fluffy, and cinnamon-kissed. One of my favorites!
🥓 Bacon – Thick-cut, crispy with just a little chew—cooked exactly how I like it. Absolute perfection.
🥩 Grilled Flat Iron Steak Frites – Cooked medium with a great char flavor, topped with creamy hollandaise, and served with crispy shoestring fries. A great value for a steak brunch dish.
🍳 Surf & Turf Benedict – One egg with steak, the other with lump crab. Rich hollandaise, a great char flavor again on the steak, and sweet, delicate crab—delicious.
🧀 Cheesy Grits – Thick, super cheesy, and a must if you love coarse grits (which is my favorite style).
🦐 Pickled Shrimp – Tart, creamy, with a little heat and a nice snap. Served with jalapeños, veggies, and mustard. Not something I’d normally gravitate towards, but my friend wanted to try it—and it took me by surprise!
🐟 Smoked Salmon Plate – Classic bagel chips, cream cheese, tomatoes, and salmon. But the caper berries? A unique and salty pickled touch I hadn’t seen before!

Why Visit?

Iron Rose is an approachable brunch spot in Charleston. The food is consistently delicious, the courtyard is a dream, and sometimes there’s live music! It’s a great spot for a casual brunch, a special occasion, or even a spontaneous last-minute plan. Whether you’re indulging in Brioche French Toast or going for something heartier like Steak Frites, this brunch is worth checking out. Bonus? The courtyard is pet-friendly, so you can bring your pup!
