The Carillón Plus Ultra is a charming animated clock inaugurated in 1993. It was designed by cartoonist Antonio Mingote and crafted in the Netherlands. The carillon features five moving Goyesque figures—including painter Goya, the Duchess of Alba with her dog, King Carlos III, a stylized Manola, and the famed bullfighter Pedro Romero —set to music from its 18 bells.

The balcony opens daily at 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 20:00, offering a delightful 3–4 minute show. It’s Madrid’s only animated carillon and a fun, unexpected sight in the city center.
It's the only one in Spain, I always like to show it to my guests!
