You cannot come to Edinburgh without visiting the Botanic Gardens! I would recommend setting aside at least half a day, and opening times vary throughout the year as the days shorten, so I would recommend checking before you visit!

During the Christmas season (20th November - 30th December) they have a lights display you can walk through. More info

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a stunning green oasis located in the heart of Scotland's capital. Spanning over 70 acres, it showcases an impressive collection of plants from around the world, making it a haven for nature lovers and casual strollers alike. Visitors can wander through beautifully landscaped gardens, explore various themed areas, and check out the iconic Victorian glasshouses filled with exotic flora. The garden also plays a vital role in plant conservation and research, contributing to global efforts to protect biodiversity. With its rich history dating back to the 17th century, it's not just a pretty place; it's a spot where science and beauty come together, inviting everyone to enjoy the wonders of the natural world.
