This is a must visit - such a fascinating place!

Skara Brae is a fascinating prehistoric village located on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. Dating back to around 3100 BC, it’s one of the best-preserved Neolithic sites in Europe. The village consists of a series of stone houses that were built into the ground, which helped protect them from the harsh weather. Each house features furniture made from stone, including beds and dressers, showcasing the ingenuity of its ancient inhabitants.

Visitors can wander through the remains and get a real sense of what life was like thousands of years ago. The layout of the village suggests a close-knit community, with interconnected homes and shared spaces. It’s believed that the people of Skara Brae were skilled farmers and fishermen, relying on the rich resources of the surrounding land and sea. The site also offers intriguing insights into their daily lives, rituals, and social structures, making it a captivating glimpse into a distant past.
