Russell Falls is one of those Tassie gems that’s absolutely worth the hype. The hike to get there is an easy-peasy 20-minute stroll (around 1.4km return) through a lush rainforest, with towering ferns and mossy trees making you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy land. It’s all on a well-maintained track, so no need for hardcore hiking boots – I wore thongs, as usual haha!
When you reach the falls, prepare to be AMAZED. The water cascades over layered rock like a natural curtain – it’s honestly breathtaking. And if you’re feeling brave (or haven't had a fresh shower in a few days lol), go stand under the falls for a super fresh, freezing shower!
The area is family-friendly but sadly not pet-friendly, so leave your furry mates behind for this one. If you’re keen to explore further, the track links up with other walks in Mount Field National Park, so you can easily make a day of it. Don’t forget your camera – this spot is stunning! And maybe a raincoat, because it’s Tassie, and you never know when the skies will open up x
